N/A 1.6. Sucking air from tank?

So I've been fighting air in my fuel system over the past week.
For some reason, my 1.6 is sucking a lot of air from the tank? Quite often the glow plug light flashes, then stays on steady.
My car still has the water separator on it. How do I delete it without triggering a flashing glow plug light?
What could be the issue with all the air from the tank??
It has just under a quarter tank in it now.

I simply replaced the separator with a piece of hose and clipped the wires. Problem solved.

I think I replaced it with a piece of 5/16" metal tubing,.. and some hose.
Be sure to remove the check valve in the line just after it. Plugged check valve is a common cause of fuel line restriction.
Most of the time when you see air in the system it's caused by a fuel line restriction causing a vacuum and expanding any dissolved air in the fuel.

You might want to pull the fuel pickup and make sure the screen isn't clogged.

When you disconnect the line from the water separator it will syphen the tank dry, since it's below the tank.
If you pull the fuel pickup first it won't drain the tank.
You can also crimp the line but you will probably need to pull the sender and check the screen anyway so I'd do that first followed by a separatorectomy.

After a lot of fussing around, I changed my fuel filter and that solved it for me.
It took a lot of work to get that checkvalve out and I drew vacuum on the lines, with and without the filter, etc.

Try replacing the filter first. If that doesn't work, dive in !!!!
