1986 vw gulf 1.6 n/a diesel

hey guys new to VW but I picked up an 1986 gulf
With the n/a diesel and it was leaking fuel right at the o-ring at the end of Injection pump where the injector lines comes in. I took it apart while still in car and put all back together, it stopped leaking but now it runs at full throttle all the time I took it apart 3 times and can't see anything wrong any help will be appreciated

Do you mean the largest diameter oring, or the one on the "three sided" insert?

How far apart did you take it apart?

Did the top come off? I'd take the full-load screw all the way out, then put it back in.
Did the accelerator levers come off? Id try moving the levers one spline over.

Thanks for the reply and no I didn't take off the top, I only took off fuel lines, cold start cable and throttle cable.
