RA deals

Dorman 675354 m10x1.50 stud $.63 (closeout)
looks suitable for the timing belt tensioner stud. Those things sometimes get damaged and finding one is
kind of a hassle. Nice to have a spare
I took one off a 1.6d head to measure and the dorman one is just slightly longer on the long end.
Short end and the shank are the same.
https://www.rockauto.com/en/parts/dorma ... d+stud,183
That TB stud seems like a bad design. Really not enough thread going into the aluminum head for the
torque spec of 33lbs. I had one of those pull out on my old 11mm head and it was a real PIA to install an insert to fix it.
I wonder if cutting a couple extra threads on the short end would be a good idea because the
hole goes a little further in if I remember correctly.
Certainly needs plenty of red loctite too.

Is that 3 cents for the whole set of o-rings? Or each, for the set of 172 o-rings?
Says they are nylon, that's strange.

It's like $5 for the pack, pretty sure it's nitrile. Same as all the other cheap black orings.
Autozone used to sell them for 10, now they sell smaller packs of 16 for $5 :x
I think the dorman 172 pack can still be found, but not at a better price.
I use this one a lot, almost bought another but it kicked up the shipping so I passed.
The \HF metric o-ring kits are ok but many aren't actual metric sizes. This one has come
through for me many times.

Of course, I was just looking for add-on stuff for a "closeout" item I REALLY wanted, got 4.
Rubber VC gaskets https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/vol ... sket,10710

Turns out there are a lot of Dorman products on the chopping block in the 'Tools and Universal Parts' section.
Got a few 3/16" compression fittings for emergency brake line splicing.
Got some vacuum caps in 3/16 (brake bleeder caps?) and a few in 1/8" , under 'plastic connector caps'

I always look for the mercedes w123 primary fuel filters on closeouts too, got 2 @ $1. Those things are neat prefilters
and you can easily spray them out to reuse if needed. Really helps the big filter last longer.

Got a couple more oil filters, but mostly I was scrolling the 3/16 flare fittings so I can replace a brake line repair that was done in mexico.

Actually, until just a couple days ago, I didn't know those brass compression fittings are not a long term solution.
Seeing how cheap the brass compression fittings are on rock auto
reminded me about a fix I had done and I looked on YT to find out NEVER leave those on brake lines !!
RA has the inverted flare unions cheap. I can rent the flaring tool and get the steel tube nuts at the local part store.

I saw they sell some brake line stuff at part stores, but RA closeout shipping is super fast. So I got most of what I need
and plenty of extras.

2 days most of the time. Ships from Houston, TX
I ordered all that odd stuff, like $60, including 11 bucks shipping early in the morning. By noon it was shipped.
It was 20 different items in multiple quantities, so whoever works at that warehouse doesn't screw around.

With Rock Auto it's great if you can get the parts from the same distributor,.. or you end up paying several shipping charges.

Yea, if there is something on closeout that I want
I'll also check the closeout page on all my other vehicles
and a lot of that stuff will ship together.

These mk1 KelseyHayes front calipers are pretty cool, and a great price.
Whats really cool is some come WITH the carrier brackets.
I got a pair a while back and then they were out of the ones with brackets, looks
like they got a couple back in.
The caliper is easy to get, but those brackets are super NLA.

Wow with the bracket.
I don't think I've seen that before.

I'm so cheap, I rebuild calipers.
They do look nice when they are painted.

Using the Nugeon part number,
others can be found on the web.
But looking for the bracket itself, nada.

I had been needing new brackets for
years. Anti-rattle clips fell out
so much I had to silicone the ends.

They're not new brackets, but way better
than mine. My core bracket was rejected.
