1980 Rabbit Electrical Woes

I bought a brand new 77 gas Rabbit almost 40 years ago. It started to leave me stranded on a regular bases. So I would take the fuse box out of the car sand, file and clean on a regular bases. About every 6 month. It got so bad I sold the car 5 years later. Then 3 years after that I received a letter and package from VW Canada. Now this is a long time ago and I don't remember everything in the letter. I do remember a small plastic triangular piece they sent me. It was a recall for a leak into the fuse box. With instructions on how to install this little plastic piece. As far as I'm concerned there was a recall on these vehicles. I propyl through the pack in the garbage after I briefly looked at it.
