My Rabbit hates me

Post by JAMES ADKINS »

Well after just repairing AC unit and completely waxing and detailing it, now the clutch throwout nhas decided to guit.It's a 4 sp. 1.6 na.and the cables fine and works outside lever properly. Has anyone took the end off one of these units while still in the car? Can the throwout unit be took apart while still in car? it looks like after removing starter and end plate that it could be done? I realize pressure plate or other probs means the tranny's got to come out. If it has to come out i'm afraid she's bye, bye. :cry:

Oh yeah, that endcap comes right off.
I don't have the part # for the gasket handy.

Did you try pulling the lever up by hand?
If it comes up easily;
there's an arm in there that breaks sometimes and is fairly easy to replace.

Easy stuff if it's a problem under the cover.

Expect some fluid to come out.
if it's the original gear oil it will be so nasty your conscience won't let you put it back in,.. if it's an easy fix it might be a good time to change fluid.
