will a Dasher inline motor bolt up to a "tranverse"

I have a chance to buy an 80 Dasher with only 65,000 miles on it for $150. The body is rusted bad but the motor runs great. Just curious if this motor would work in a "transverse" setup like a jetta or a rabbit? It seems like I have heard they where different. Thanks for your help.

It's probably the less desireable 1.5,..
but it will bolt in.

As fatmobile said, it will fit fine. The motor itself is identical to any other 1.5L diesel engine of that era. The mounts that bolt to the engine that bolt it into the chassis will be quite different. But, the 1.5 and 1.6L motors share the same external engine characteristics and will readily interchange if the correct mounts for the particular chassis are used.

So, my alternater and ac pump will bolt onto that block? It is setup totally different. Thanks,

If you use all the brackets from the original installation and install all those on the new engine from another vehicle, then they will fit. The brackets from the Dasher likely won't work in a transverse engine application. The engine is an engine and they didn't make different 1.5L engines that fit different applications. They made different engine mount brackets to fit engines into different chassis.
