We just put a Giles performance pump on my dads n/a jetta. We would like to remove the stock exhaust. I have a 2.5" custom built exhaust with no catalytic converter and a Magnaflow muffler on my 1.8 Jetta gasser. He thinks mine is too loud. Any suggestions on what size (2" 2.25" or 2.5") to put on and what muffler would give him less back pressure and low noise. Thanks,
Danny

Re: best exhaust system for a n/a diesel with performance pu
I did 2.25 on an N/A once with 2 cherry bombs. It was actually quiet and TONS better performance than the stock setup.

Start with a dual outlet exhaust manifold [I have one for sale !] then 2" pipe all the way. Using good quality, thick pipe will help to cut down resonance. Them an oem quality GLI muffler
