Adjustment

Post by ctange »

What is the philosophy behind the adjustment to the "RPM-arm on the IP"?

that particular assembly is a mystery to me. i just don't get what it does!! i understand the serated part as that applies the twist action to the throttle shaft, but the bolted down sliding adjustment has me flummoxed. it probably positions the throttle post the cable attaches to in a particular spot, which results in the throttle pedal coming to rest at a certain height. heck, i don't know.

I always wondered about that myself but on every pump I have had you can't actually adjust that? There is a little bump that lets them sit in a certain position and then you tighten down like that or you would tweak it.

Maybe it's for different applications like gen-sets where you might not want to adjust it at the governor. It can be a real pain to get the right speed and power to get 60 cycles per second.

oh yeah, it DOES have that bump/hole so it CAN'T be adjusted!! WTF, eh? must be a crossover parts issue where the plate without the bump is used on another application but the serated part can remain the same. i dunno.

You can just ignore the bump and adjust it... Though there's not a whole lot of point since the pivot inside the pump will bump in to the pump body if you adjust it very much. That said, mine isn't sitting on the "bump".
