2011 TDI warrenty void due to B10

Post by JRM »

my friend is really fusterated and we are not sure what he can do. He bought a new 2011 jetta TDI and when he brought it back for its free oil change and checkup they advised his warrenty is void due to him liveing in oregon and filling up with oregon diesel. It seems as VW has a 5% bio limit for the new DPF system and oregon law requires all fuel stations to pump no less than B10 this year and no less than B20 next year even during the winter!.... so what does my friend do?

Tell him to write a letter to VW of America (they are in Herndon VA) and see if he can contact someone with a little common sense.

Sounds like they are in some sort of violation of the law to me.

Seems like that kind of policy should be void or amended where prohibited. In this case should be made applicable to oregon law, that is if he bought the vehicle in the state, otherwise he might be out of luck.
