K 14 Turbo question

Post by Diesel Dean »

On the side of the turbo there is a hollow bolt and metal line that goes to the waste gate. If I take that out and replace it with a solid bolt I will have full boost all the time . Will that cause any problems?

If you have too much boost, you'll probably damage something. That's the line you can add a manual boost controller to so you can have more boost though. You should also plug your BOV.

There is no BOV valve, it is an eco diesel intake. What will too much boost do?

The blow off valve on a turbo motor is so that the motor doesn't build too much boost and start to blow out head gaskets, block gaskets, break rings and do other carnage that high boost situations can cause. You name it, but you can only compress so much air before you find the weakest point of failure. Under this scenario, the waste gate is the weakest point of failure.

I have a boost controller but I never put it on. I would also like to know how to set it up. The k 14 will only boost up to about 15 anyway right.

I'm pretty sure you tee the boost controller into the waste gate line.. that way, it needs more pressure to open the controller, then the waste gate. If you did have a BOV, you'd want to plug that too, or else I think it opens at 12psi or something. That is, if bbob has one on his intake. I have a hydro engine I'm going to swap in pretty quick, while the other stuff is out I'm going to add my MBC, pyro and psi gauges. Pretty excited.
