Canada car into usa.

Looking at a b4 passat in canada mostly for the 135000 mile motor and trans in it and other goodies on it to part out to recoup costs. Has anyone ever imported a car into the usa for parts before and have some insight for me? Been doing some reading on the E P A and NHTSA websites but i wanted to get some first hand experience if possible.. thanks
