Leaking IP

My 1981 rabbit 1.6 WVO was leaking fuel from the top (rubber part) of the stop solenoid, so I replaced it and the leak stopped. Now its leaking again but from either the threads of the stop solenoid or where the plate that the solenoid screws into meets the rest of the IP.

I didn't use any kind of a thread sealer when I replaced the solenoid. Should I have? Would that be causing my leak? Has anyone else had the solenoid leak from the threads, or is it likely leaking between the plate and IP?

Thanks,

Dave

I wouldn't recommend using teflon tape or other thread sealant on these threads. If some gets into the fuel stream, it will probably clog up the injectors. You should be able to let the car sit overnight and dry off and start the car and see if the fuel is coming from the threads or the high pressure end of the IP and migrating it's way to the top of the pump. You may want to just snug up the fuel solenoid a bit more and see if that stops the leak.

Thanks. I will try and narrow it down.

There's an o-ring that should be replaced when removing the stop solenoid.
You didn't mention it.
