My newly installed oil pressure gauge in the head (with tubing kit) shows I'm getting over 100psi at 70mph, and 55 or so psi when idling warm. 100psi startup cold.

Is this okay?

I'm also leaking oil- it's been hard to track down, but seems to be coming from the back of the engine (transmission area)... I'm fearing driveshaft seals or intermediate shaft oil seals.... any way to know for sure. My brain says I might have to pull the motor to take care of it. Just want to run this by you good folks to see if I'm missing anything obvious. During the rebuild I used all new seals.

Pressures sound ok.

As usual, leaks require cleaning the engine from the top down, to see where they originate. It all seems to migrate to the flywheel end of the motor. VC gaskets and breather hoses are common culprits.
Have a nice day.

Those oil pressures are nice and high.

Funny thing about high pressures is that it can mean tight spec bearings. [And a good pump]
Tight spec bearings give high pressures because they are low flow.
Low flow could lead to reduced heat dissipation, and seizure, should wear develop in one bearing.
Tight bearings could make cold starting harder. Maybe also strain oil gaskets/joints... A lot of 'maybe's

VW spec seems to concentrate on minimum head pressures...

Sometimes it's the oil pressure sender dripping.
and sometimes the vacuum pump o-ring or something in that area will leak down by the trany because the engine is tilted that way.
