Re: 1.6 Engine Troubles!!
Seriously, cracks between the valves are common and are often superficial.
Does the cam rock in it's journals when the caps are removed?

The head from the parts car would not work on my block. The bolts were different and the bolt holes in the heads were different sizes. Back to square one.

That's not necessarily a deal killer. I've driven 50k miles on my mismatched head and block since changing the headgasket.

Re: 1.6 Engine Troubles!!
I would have to drill out the holes in the spare head so that the bolts would pass through or use the bolts that were originally in the spare head and cut off some of the length for them to work.wmasscaddy wrote:That's not necessarily a deal killer. Re: 1.6 Engine Troubles!!
Different bolts and different threads.
So the bolts won't swap between blocks but the holes can be drilled out.
I believe the washers are also larger on the 12mm bolts so where they sit needs to be wider,.. or some folks just make the washers smaller.
