New dash light problem

Post by Tac »

Got a new dash light problem. Just before I fixed my no alternator problem, the light for the antifreeze level keeps blinking. Of-course I checked the fluid level added a little and the light still blinks. It was barely down. Also I unplugged the sending unit on the reservoir and plugged it back in several times. Stuck my finger in there to feel around to see if I could feel some kind of float (don't know what that did?). Any guesses?

When mine did that, it was due to a bad connection on the back of the cluster. First, cleaning the connections seemed to fix it, but later it turned out to be a fracture in the flexible PCB and I had to solder a jumper around the fracture.
Have a nice day.

Might be a bad ground connection on the sensor.

Thanks for the replies. I'll have to screw around with it. I can take a quick look to trace some wires at lunch time here. It gets dark pretty quick now. Sun down is at 4:37pm here (I know most of you guys are in the same boat). There is no room under that dash. Does any know if the light switch has anything to do with lighting up the dash?

JA, the dimmer on the headlight switch feeds the cluster illumination, if you mean that way. The switch has nothing to do with the indicator LEDs.
Have a nice day.

Thanks Tyler. That's just what I was asking. My dash lights are out. The speedo comes on once in a while stays on for quite a while then it goes out Clock side never comes on anymore.
I just followed that wire from the sensor and in just goes into the harness. Could just jump the Sensor connector out? Or not a good idea?

My water light was out for about 25 miles to day. But to no avail it came back on.
