That's a beauty.
A MK2 TDI is on my list of dream cars.
The MK2s are disappearing fast. I don't think people like them the way they do the Rabbits but they are a nice upgrade in size, they are a smoother/quieter ride on the highway and have a better interior.
The Golfs are more rare than the Jettas by a longshot so I'm glad you saved a Golf.

I like 4 door golfs just because of the easier access to the rear seats.
With a roll cage the back seat doesn't matter much.
'91 Golf gasser converted to a 12mm pump, M-TDI.
'84 1.6TD Rabbit with a VNT-15 turbo, still setup to run on vegetable oil.
'84 GTI with 1.7TD pistons and intercooled.
2003 TDI wagon
2000 TDI Jetta.

Looks like your swapping in a ahu. How about the instrument cluster and wiring harness. That's the part I find a bit of a challenge to say the least. I've always dreamed about a Passat Estate wagon ahu swap. I have the donor car all I need is 2000 hours or more to do it. Oh ya I forgot about a wagon.

The Italian designed Mk II Golf got be to one of the most beautiful thinks on the planet. This one is done up right. Nothink goddy. I see a lot of walking from the far end of parking lots in your future and maybe a good alarm system.
