Is using a header from a gas motor worth any gains?

I have a 91' Golf 1.6 N/A, the motor is bone stock.
Have been looking at performance IP's, and air box mods.
But would using a header for a gas motor help me at all?
I'd like to run a 2.5 inch exhaust, and have heard it helps free up a few ponies?

The gas motor header would probably work. I don't think the gasser block is any taller than the diesel.
2.5" on an NA diesel will be very loud.
I'll send a PM about a performance pump because Jack sells rebuilt pumps and I don't want to step on his toes.

Cool.
I posted this twice, kinda messed myself up.
Thanx though.

I'd really like to see what's out there for performance IP's. The Giles pump is $900 just for the rebuild. That's pretty expensive.

The Giles pump is worth every penny. I had one on my 91 Jetta. It was amazing.

I'm still contemplating on the future of this rig?
If it was making 75hp it would be way better. A turbo would be a lot better.
But I don't know if the diesel is really what I want yet.
I'm gonna drive it for a bit, and if I don't like it I'm gonna swap the motor. I'll spend money elsewhere on the car.
Starting to figure out that parts for these motors are kinda hard to find...
