Prechamber Came Loose, Broke and Fell Into #3 Cylinder

Post by Oilslick »

All this happened while I was running 75 mph on the interstate. The head is destroyed and so is the #3 piston. Pretty sure the cylinder is nicely scarred. I guess I will get to rebuild the engine...completely. Once I removed the head I found all the other prechambers loose in their places. Oh well!

Ouch. Life is interesting, eh?

I like that attitude. Another lump won't set you back much, if you can find one in your area... maybe even a TD.
Have a nice day.

I'm having a blast with this car. I don't golf, fish, or hunt so my fun money is spent on cars. I wouldn't put it past me to just go dig through my old stash of VW diesel parts and find another piston, install my hydraulic head, and bolt it back together. So what if it grenades? LOL! It's my "throw away" car. Having a blast!

Sorry, I’ve been working on other projects and haven’t been on the forum. I just recently installed another engine into my ‘85 Jetta. I got it out of a ‘91 Jetta Diesel. Runs great! These cars are so much fun.
