Hello has anyone tried to put a petrol dashboard into a diesel one?
Does it needs to make any change?
I dont need the yellow plug light so it doesnt matter, I need a bigger rpm measuring, I run an M-TDI and it does arroung 6500rpm, and I wanted to put an original tachometer but the diesel blocks at 5500rpm, and the petrol ones goes to arround 7000rpm.
Any one knows a way to make it work on a diesel?
My car is CE2, it has only 1 jack like in both of the images.

Yeah, I put a gasser tach in my '91 Golf.
I think you can just swap it into the diesel cluster in place of the old one,.. but it will still need to be adjusted to read from the alternator,... or maybe an M-tdi has a sensor that's timed similar to the gasser coil that triggers the gasser tach. Like a crank position sensor or something.
So, it's been awhile since I did it but the tach should swap right in physically.

'91 Golf gasser converted to a 12mm pump, M-TDI.

Re: Jetta MK2 dashboard
Humm, the problem is if there is a way of putting it to work with the alternator, but i guess it inst possible, i have the lower rotation sensor in the crankshaft, but i don't have any light on how to put it to work...

Over on the GTD forum there is a writeup on how to connect a gasser tach to the w terminal on the alternator.
I think it's in the FAQs.
That's how I did mine.
Gotta change some reststors and caps,... mostly resistors.
