Want to buy: Air cleaner housing ?1986 Jetta Non turbo 068129607D

Post by Joe Stewart »

I honestly don't know what year model this particular air cleaner housing was used on. I have it on a motor that I assembled with a mismash of parts.
IMG_1989resized800x600.jpg
I need the clamps that hold it closed.

I also need the plastic intake elbow and flexible hose that leads over to the wheel well.

Will purchase the whole air cleaner unit if someone has one to offer.

Thanks

It seems like that hose always falls apart. You might want to find a new aftermarket hose.
I'll check the shed for clamps and covers.

I found a cover but it only has 2 clamps.
It holds so well that maybe it only needs 2 clamps.
Let me know if you still want any of it.

Thanks Fat mobile, but do you also have that 90 degree elbow? and the fitting that crams into the wheel well? This car is totally missing both of those parts. I think I saw one on ebay but the guy was asking quite a bit for it. Anyway, sure I would be interested in the cover with the two clamps. Name a price. Thanks again.

I'll check for the elbow.
My buddy has an '85 parts car.
I'll see what parts he has too.
I'd like to get $20 plus shipping for the plastic box and 2 clips,.. I'll see what my buddy wants for his parts.
Or at least see what they look like so I can check my pile for them.

Thanks. Here is a link to the ebay auction to give you an idea what the 90 degree tube looks like (they call it a snorkel).

Wow good idea of what all parts there are after that link. I didn't see that elbow in my pile.
Just talked to my buddy Bill and he says $50 for his plastic box (plus shipping ya know),... just the outer piece that clips on, all the clips we can muster, the elbow and the piece that goes into the fender,... if it's all there.
He has the whole car and hasn't done anything to the engine bay so it should all be there.
I'll stop by and take a look at it.

Shwew $135 seems a little high,.. but that's ebay for ya.

OK, thanks. I am still in need of the parts, so whatever you can get.....

I suppose as a last resort I could remove this manifold and bolt on an A1 MK1 diesel manifold. I have a couple of those lying around, to include the housing and the snorkel.

But I would much rather go with the existing set up.

Went to Bill's and he gave away the elbow when he sold the vanagon,.. he thought it was a vanagon part.
He had the part that fits in the fender.
I even went to the local junkyard that had an NA diesel,.. but it wasn't there anymore.Sooo no elbow.
Sooo send me a PM with your address, I'll put the plastic box and fender piece in a box and figure out shipping.
I figure $30 plus shipping.

Thank you for all your efforts Fatmobile. The elbow is kind of a key component here. I will check a few more sources before purchasing. And I may choose to go back to an MK1 style of intake manifold (since those are pleniful around here). Thanks again for going out of your way. J. Stewart

I have the cover with 3 of the 4 latches that hold it to the box, plus the 90 degree elbow and the attachment to the wheel well. I can look around for the 4th latch if you are still interest. I do not have the box the filter seats in just the cover, elbow and attachment. It is yours for whatever you want to pay me and I will check out shipping cost if you give me your zip code.

I'll take it for the price you name! I'm on my knees begging for these parts at this point. Do you have the little deal that attaches to the fender well, where the intake hose gets somehow inserted into the fender well? This car never had one so I'm not sure what it looks like. I will check the manual tonight and see if there is a picture. My address: Joel Carney, 107 Plainfield Circle Lafayette, LA 70503. Thanks

Yes, I have the part that attaches to the inside wheel well too. I need to look for the 4th clip that holds the cover to the box but 3 will still work. I will go to the post office to let you know how much shipping will be. I'll take $10 for the whole set up plus shipping cost just glad I can be of help. You do not need to send me any money until you receive the set up. I will put my return address in the box and you can send me a check at your convenience.

Man, I'm gonna pay you quadruple that amount! I thought for a while there I was going to have to retrofit an ancient MK1 aluminum manifold onto this motor! Are you looking for any parts for your rig? I have a few boxes of MK1 parts and a few MK3 parts and I may have what you need.
