Anyone have a rack boot?
The one that goes between the body and rack.
I have the rack and u-joint.

Those had a boot? I converted a 91 from P/S to manual and had a new rack installed, and the mechanic ribbed a manual steering shaft and ujoint off a junk car in his yard, and I don't recall a boot being on that assembly. Only boots I knew of for sure were the ones covering the innter tie rod.

He probably ribbed the boot from the same car as the u-joint.
From what I hear these only came on the '85 golf.
Definately a boot there or air would flow through the hole in the firewall.

I have a broken one and could use a good one myself. Please advise if you find a source.

Will do.
I think I found a cheap source for the rubber boot but they say it's for power steering, even though the part number says it's for manual and the measurements they gave me match the one I have for my complete manual rack setup.

Cheap source, cheap boot,.. I stuck my finger through it,.. more of a bag.
But i sewed it back together and we'll see if it works.
Not a source/place I would recommend.

Do you still need a steering boot? I have an extra one. PN 175 419 523. It is used but in good condition.

I don't think it will work on my '86 Jetta, but thanks for the offer!
