Head Gasket Question

Post by nate_o »

I replaced my head gasket about 2 years ago and now it is leaking oil like crazy so I guess its time for a new one. If I remember right I read somewhere on here that the Victor Rienz was better then the Fel Pro. I used the VR last time so I want to find something better if possible. I found a head gasket made by Mahl and was wondering if anyone had any experience with them or can recommend another good gasket.

Vic Reinz and Elring are just fine.
I would say the problem rests with your surfaces, preparation, and mechanical skills.

Yeah, surface prep is important.
No oil on the surface.
I like using hylomar spray too.
Even copper spray is better than nothing.
And set the gasket on the head and see where the edges sit when it's centered.
Make sure that's where they sit when the head is on.
