1980 VW Pickup rear brake line replacement

I have to replace a rear brake cylinder and I was thinking of swapping out the 40 year old rubber brake lines while I'm under there. Question: It looks like the original lines are crimped onto the fittings and my replacement lines have 14 mm nuts on the end. Does anyone know about the original lines? Are they screwed on with some sort of crimping pliers or are they crimped over a flare end of some sort? I don't want to put myself in a corner by hacking off the old lines and not being able to get the new ones on. I couldn't find anything in Bentley.

Thanks,
Erik

Rear lines take an 11mm wrench on the line nut and I think it's a 14mm on the rubber end.
I've never heard of them being crimped.

Sometimes I have to snip the metal retaining clip so I can pull things apart and get to both of the nuts.
A set of vice grips on the metal fitting on the end of the rubber hose.
Smash it and it will free up the line nut screwed into it.
That last trick isn't needed everywhere,.. I live in the rust belt.
