Have you ever renewed the little bushing in the transmission housing where the starter's nose rotates in it?
As those wear, they require more work from the starter to rotate.

Was there any discussion re: the shape/condition of your battery?

Did the starter bushing in the beginning when i replaced the starter. Battery is good, and start is bad even when jumped by bigger battery.

Ive got a decent other engine from the pick up, but the car is too far gone i think. Rot. I had to put in a metal plate to keep the drivers seat from sinking through the floor.
