More Diesel Adventures and HOLY SH*T THE BOARD IS BACK UP!

Post by the vegenator »

Just saw that this was back online via the VWdiesel.net board. I was just lamenting yesterday about how sad it was to lose such a treasure trove of info after vwdieselparts.com went down. Especially HAGAR's thread, and all the specific info that I always found so useful. This forum was instrumental in helping me keep my mk2 jetta running.

In the past few years I've been working on converting my sedan into a wagon using a golf rear end (converting to ahu as well), and I bought a quantum wagon that I am in the process of swapping a good engine into. Will happily post updates and questions here. Instagram is great and all, but it's got nothin on this place.

In the meantime -- if anyone knows where I can source a quantum shifter bushing set, three outlet coolant hose (to oil cooler), and an IP cruise control diaphragm, let me know!

Glad you found us and are still into the VW diesels.
I've been playing with the TDI engines too.
Got an MTDI in my '91 Golf.

I think the cruise control diaphram is the same gas or diesel.
Just the slide wire from your car will need swapped over.
So maybe you could find one on the vortex.

I might have a used 3-outlet hose,..
that comes down from the head.
'91 Golf gasser converted to a 12mm pump, M-TDI.
'84 1.6TD Rabbit with a VNT-15 turbo, still setup to run on vegetable oil.
'84 GTI with 1.7TD pistons and intercooled.
2003 TDI wagon
2000 TDI Jetta.

Hey! Glad to see you are still active with the forum and with VW diesels. What cars are you driving? Or working on? Did you ever build your successfully build your 1.7 engine ??

If you have a spare hose I'd certainly buy it off of you. I was looking into making them with silicone parts but finding one in decent shape would be great too. It is indeed the one that comes down from the head flange to the WP, which tees off to the oil cooler (in a very long round about way because of the different oil filter mounting position).

Yeah, the 1.7TD is running great.
Pretty long list of the ones I'm working on.
Lately it's been the '91 Golf MTDI.
My neighbor took it for a drive tonight and was shocked.

The '84 Rabbit (Pa)Tina just had a pretty bad mishap.
The gasket sealing the oil filter flange in place blew out when I was testing my new VNT-15 manual controller.
The controller ran perfect.
Ran right up to 15psi boost and 1200 F on the EGT
in all gears.
When I got home I didn't notice the trail of oil.
Took it to town the next day and ran low on oil.
Froze the turbo.
Added oil and made it home.
The engine still runs but it was pretty tired anyway.
Basically just a summer engine.
The engine that I swapped with the MTDI is good and I'll swap that into the Rabbit soon.
I really want to post a video of the VNT-15 Rabbit when it's running again.
The VNT-15 is the perfect turbo for the 1.6.

Parting out an '87 Jetta GLI gasser.

And I've been working on some MK4 TDIs.

I'll look through the hose box and find one for you.
I used an air to oil cooler on a couple TDs so didn't need it.

I updated my signature.
Also was working on something,
looked up and there was a 3-outlet hose.
Get ahold of me and we'll figure out how to get it to you.
