Where There's Smoke

Post by VancouverVan »

Okay - I backed out the fuel screw, and while it reduced the amount of smoke whilst driving, and doesn't seem to have cut power noticably (testing was limited to the 'hood), it is just as smoky starting cold and is now harder to start.

The instructions call for pulling back the cold-start knob and slightly depressing the foot-feed. I checked the cables; the cold-start seems fine, but there is slack in the accelerator cable.

I think perhaps I depressed it too little to both remove the slack and add a touch of fuel. When it didn't start, I pumped it, and it did, with plenteous smoke.

Is that cable supposed to be tight? And would simply giving it too much gas cause this problem?
