I have a 1999 golf tdi (uk market) is there a wrong or right way to put on a timing belt tensioner,VW tell me there is but i have contacted several garages including independent VW garages who all say ther is only one way to put them on.The part number ends in 243G

The indexing tab should fit into the slot on the engine. Torque to rated value.
