engine jerking

hiall,
got a problem on a 94 audi 80 tdi,jerks alot when applying throttle, tends to get better as revs rise,also tickover is lumpy, any ideas would be helpful,thanks

Never worked on or even seen or driven a diesel audi, but sounds like the engine is starving for fuel. The lower rpm's means the fuel pump is pumping less, and when you accelerate it pulls more fuel. Check the fuel filter first, that would be my plan of attack. Again, I am only using common logic on this one, there are many other possibilites.
