Hella auxiliary battery divider

Post by VanVan »

Hi -

I was wondering whether anyone's installed the auxiliary battery divider sold by Hella - the wee blue plastic box with the fuse. Mine's about in, but I need to select a keyed wire to tap into, and wondered what others have used.

Thanks!

Where have you mounted the battery divider? If by the motor. then
you could use the IP fuel selenod. If in the front of the Van, then
half of the fuse panel is turned on/off with the key.

The fuel stop solenoid line is unfused from the factory. It should get a fuse regardless, but especially if you are running it anywhere else.

I've mounted it under the back seat; I partitioned the compartment and in the small new section have mounted the Hella unit, and also installed two remote battery terminals and a fuse block. None of it's live, yet...

The IP solenoid's the one wire right on the back of the injector pump, correct? Is there also a keyed wire on the back of the alt?

Yup about the IP wire. And there is one wire on the alt
that is keyed, but I don't know how much power you can
pull from it. That would not be my first choice.
I would just tape into the fuse box some place. There are extra
1/4" spade connectors on the fuse box. Atleast my '82
Vanagon had a number for free ones.

Not sure what you mean by "fuse block must be fused...".
On my Vanagon a some of the fuses have unused 1/4" spade
connectors on the down feed side of the fuse. I just assumed these
extra connectors are for options that my Vanagon does not have.

Personal favorite in multiple battery bank handling is SurePower. Note their guide to charging systems & batteries at http://www.surepower.com/pdf/ebr_int.pdf They seem to build in more reliability than the others for RVers of all sizes.
