That's a gas tranny which I believe to be to highest ratio other than the 6G. Which is just a little higher. A friend of mine has one in a A2 N/A with the biggest tires you can get on it. I drove it and had a hard time to stop it from smoking. I think if you were to run normal tires and a K12 turbo it might be more drivable. If you have a lot of hills and wind your going to send a lot of time in fourth. Anyway my friend still loves the car and its a little hard to form an opinion with a 60km drive.

Transmission codes
ACL,AVX,ATH,DFP,CHD,ACN,AON,ASF,ACL,4Y
I believe all these trannies have the same fifth and first gears. Their the tallest gears I could find so I made a list and I found a AVX. I'm waiting for a bit of a reason to swap out the old tranny.

AVX Transmission
The AVX was used in 91 and 92 in the Eco Diesels, 4.25 to 1 Final Drive, I think the idea was to turn the engine faster, create boost with no added fuel for a better burn to reduce Emissions.
