Blue temp light on NB TDI

I had the car for over a year 2002 NB TDI and no issues. Today the Blue temp light went on as normal but it did not go off after the usual couple of blocks of driving. The temp outside is 70 degrees. I checked the manual and all other documents I could find but no answer on this. The light is not blinking and it is solid.
