Post by JRM »

I drive over 100 miles a day, my girlfriend has taken to my Honda civic so I am left with driveing my 85' Golf from my Rural home to downtown every day, 45 minutes of my 90 minute commute are in heavy stop and go traffic and with a very bad left knee and the 5 speed I sometimes limp my way out of the parking garage- I spyed this in craigslist, what do you think? Are A4 auto trans reliable?

I just traded in an 04 automatic golf tdi with 160k on it.
I can say it was the most reliable vehicle I have owned. Besides maintenance, I never did a
thing to it.
I drive 1000-1200 miles a week and run 70-80 when I can, so it was not babied.

If you are wondering about the price, not only can you look at the Blue Book value, but also what people are paying for the Mk4 on eBay. Sometimes, eBay prices are too high because of biding wars, but looking at what people are willing to pay will sometimes give a better and more accurate value of a car. That is especially true for Rabbits. Blue Book values diesel Rabbits as nothing, but eBay, people are paying $1,500 plus depending on the condition of the car.
