Dash Dilema

I have a 1981 caddy with the proverbial "stiff upper lip" raised above the glove box. The rest of the dash is mint without any cracks I was wondering if anyone has a fix for smoothing down the raised lip over the glove box. I was thinking of my wife's hair dryer with hand pressure, but before I start WWIII in my house I thought I would ask the pros?

Buy a new hair dryer at the store. Apply hand pressure as previously indicated.

Go to big lots and buy the cheapest iron they have.
