HELP with part id

just inherited a 82 vw diesel p/u. a/c does not work. what are these parts and could they be responsible for inop a/c? thanks

thats strange......dealer told me they are throttle switches for the a/c clutch

The dealer is wrong. A/C full throttle and idle cutout would be a much better use, but that's not what they do.

I strip 'em off and save the connectors... they fit the coolant sensor and several other places that tend to break.

Then I re-wire the upshift light to show me actual power to the glow plug buss bar... not the same as the yellow light on the dash.

But that's just me...

You'll need a relay or a transistor to do the switching if you do it like I did (pull the upshift relay and plug in there) since the LED expects "ground" to light up and of course you want to know to know when the buss bar is +12V.

Worth doing IMHO... dodgy relays and blown glow plug fuses are instantly identifiable.

glow plug

That is a good place to put a real glow plug light... to compliment the glowplug timer light. No other use and it already has a wire going to the instrument cluster plug.
Hmmm that wire needs to be grounded and there is already a relay in the panel that does that. Good to know.
