Canadian Passat turbo diesel Import to US

I am considering attempting to bring a TURBO DIESEL canadian passat into the US. (reason: all mechanical fuel fuel system, little or no electronics, plus looks financially attractive as opposed to US prices).

Does anyone know if VW made a 1995 Passat TURBO DIESEL? (not a TDI). The key seems to be AIR BAGS (can't import passat w/ mechanical or manual seatbelts, must be dual airbags).

I think that the 95 passat had dual airbags avialble as an option, but is it a turbo diesel, tdi, or both (transitional year)?

Were there 94 or 93 turbo diesels w/ airbags?

This car can not be imported at the aaz engine was never offered in the states.

I think it has to be an AAZ..... don't think they had come up with TDI at that point.

You might be able to import it as scrap!
