wheel bearing noise/brake noise

Post by hybwid wabbit »

Hello out there! My van makes a weird high pitched screech after it has been braking for a short while going down a hill. Also after the screeching stops while going straight, when I turn the steering wheel slightly it screeches some more. I think it might be the brakes heating up, but is that normal? Could it also be that after the brakes cool down enough not to touch the rotor while going straight, and I turn, there might be some play in my wheel bearings - enough to allow the hot pads to touch the rotors again?

Can anybody come up with some other reasons for this problem? thanks.

If you lightly put your foot on the brake pedal (I mean light enough to not start stopping the vehicle but heavy enough to put a couple pounds pressure in the brake lines), does the squeeling stop?
Everybody else lists their cars here - but not me.

I have too many to count

even with slight pressure on the pedal it squeels. even with no pressure on the pedal, while turning (after braking) it squeels. when I brake with the e-brake, it does not screech.
