Hi, I'm just getting started on doing a 1.9 TD conversion in a gas Syncro. I've read that the Diesel Syncro fuel tank is a different shape to clear the bellhousing. Does anyone know if the "gas" fuel tank can be reshaped to clear or do I need to find/buy a Syncro diesel tank?
Another question I have is in regards to motor mounts. When installing the 1.9 TD in the Syncro what would the best motor mount configuration be? If I find Syncro Diesel mounts will they need to be modified for the 1.9 TD? Can I modify 2WD Diesel mount to work in the Syncro with the 1.9 TD?
Thanks.
Syncro Gas Tank fit with Diesel conversion?

I think you are better off finding a diesel syncro tank.
The mount on the driver's side will likely need modification, as in any install. Otherwise it should work. If you get the '82 diesel mounting bars, you will likely need to alter them to mount the engine more rearward. '83 bars should work correctly.
