85 Jetta NA into 89 TD questions.

Any surprizes doing this swap. Transmission geared differently? electronic controls? could have an entire donor car for the swap.

Was thinking of just swapping the 89 turbo onto the 85 NA donor engine but see in another post there quite a few differences between the engines, or can it still be done and still work without too much trouble or expect a quick demise?
Among the differences in the castings, oil cooling etc, Are the fuel pump, injectors, timing, conpression ratio different?

Not sure I'm going to enjoy the less HP of the NA.
