What emblem does this represent?
This emblem is on the front fenders of my 86 Jetta. Does anyone know what this emblem means, is it on every 86 Jetta, or what trim level it designates?
Everybody else lists their cars here - but not me.

Thanks for the replies. I've wondered what that emblem represents since I got the car. I thought the Wolfsburg edition was a more upscale model. Either it could be had on the plainest of cars, or the fenders on my car were swapped out at one time. The interior of my car is downright cheap, much cheaper looking than my 82 LS Rabbit.

Oh - I thought it meant an upscale trim level. Boy, those Germans pulled a fast one on meOp-Ivy wrote:Wolfsburg edition simply means it was built at the Wolfsburg plant in Germany. Basically it is just an emblem that shows the german origin of the car.

Does it really mean Wolfsburg Edition?
I'm thought all MKII Jettas came with the emblem. The emblem does have the Wolfsburg crest on it, but I've seen Carat model Jettas, and GLi's with the emblem, and the Wolfsburg Edition Jettas had a circular "Wolfsburg Edition" emblem elsewhere on the vehicle.
I thought the emblem shown was to cover the side marker light hole, punched in the fenders of all european built Jettas--the N/A Golfs didn't have the hole punched in the fender for the side marker lights.
Could this be?
My 89 Jetta is a Carat, with the emblem pictured--blanking the side marker hole.

my 88 carat, made in Germany, does not have this emblem, but has a little 'carat' emblem on the fender. My 89 diesel, also german made, has the wolfsburg badge.
