wheel/tire size and MPG?

Post by be158 »

anyone done any testing of this?

thinking about running bigger tires up front ONLY and try it out, i do mostly free way driving at 60-65mph FLAT roads..

currently run 155/80/13s or 175/70/13s

FF code, *assuming .71 5th

tire size rpm@60mph drop rpm
(175 70 13) 2459 ==== Current setup
(175 70 14) 2355 ==== 104

(185 65 14) 2373 ==== 86 *have these on other car

(195 65 14) 2322 ==== 137 *have these on other car
(185 80 14) 2171 ==== 288

anythoughts.... offset in ratio compensate for extra rotating mass? lower in band hp blah blah

maybe 2-4mpg gain? im thinking 185 80 14s on what ever the lightest rims i have might help
