WBX to TD - 0.3 bar oil pressure sensor?
I'm converting my 83.5 wbx vanagon to 1.6 turbo diesel
The wbx and also the stock vanagon NA diesel engine have only one oil pressure sensor, (as shown in their respective Bentley's.) 1.8 bar. My 1990 Jetta TD engine (engine code MF) has two oil pressure sensors. 1.8 bar and 0.3 bar.
I have connected the 1.8 bar switch in the side of the head to the vanagon oil pressure light but what should I do with the 0.3 bar sensor on the oil filter flange?

Doesn't the NA engine have just the high pressure sender?libbybapa wrote:Are you planning on using the dynamic oil pressure warning system? If not, then ignore the high pressure sender.

Is there a control unit I should have pulled for the dynamic system?
Thanks

Bear in mind, I haven't yet completed the task of adding a dynamic oil circuit to a non-equipped vanagon. That being said, the circuitry of the dynamic circuit is housed in the instrument cluster and includes the tachometer for the high pressure circuit. My plan is to use a later model vanagon instrument cluster and convert the gas tach to a diesel tach. The rest should be plug and play.
Certainly easier is just to run the single switch and idiot light. Then again, that's only easier if the engine does not blow up due to lack of oil pressure without warning.

I don't have the later cluster so I'll just use the 1.8 bar switch. Maybe I can use the other switch's spot to mount the sender for the oil pressure gauge I pulled from a cabriolet. Would it matter if the gauge sender went in the end of the head or the oil filter flange?

Sorry, no scanner.
My Bentley (c)1991, shows in the wiring diagrams,
wbx - p97.56, current track 29, OIL PRESSURE SW (1.8 bar)
diesel - p97.43, current track 29, OIL PRESSURE SW (1.8 bar)
Now you've got me looking,
In chapter 17 LUBRICATION SYSTEM it clearly states that in checking the pressure switch, the warning light should go out at 1.5 to 4.5 bar.
As you said.
