I am changing out my injectors and don't have any metric wrench large enough (other than crescent which there isn't enough room) to remove the injector. I have to go buy one and wondering what size to get?
Thanks,

Yea, be careful with this. Only a few sockets will actually fit, and I don't know if the Craftsman does or doesn't. Also be careful to not damage the fuel barb on the injector. Any slight pressure on it will leave a crack leading to leaks. Solution is to replace the injector body. Search this forum for removing the injector and cracked heads. You always push or pull the wrench towards the head, not away from the head.Monomer wrote:Craftsmen deepwell will fit, cocsts around $10.
Everybody else lists their cars here - but not me.

Yes a Craftsman 12point 27MM deepwell is what I use too (44449 is engraved on it, maybe the part number?), came for free with the Rabbit. I have removed a bunch of injectors from my car and junk yard ones and have not broke a barb yet.Monomer wrote:27MM

Yep, 1 1/16",
12 point (less likely to bend a barb because of more room inside the socket).
Listen when someone warns you about breaking the thin lip around the front of the injector... keep tools straight with the injector, don't tip the injector forward.

One last point.... for those of you who get to this thread via Search (and bless you one and all)... the 1.9l (AAZ) injectors are substantially taller than the 1.6 injectors.
So you'll want to double check before assuming, on a Sunday when all the tool stores are closed and you really really need your car running for Monday morning. that your 1.6 socket will fit your 1.9 injectors just fine.
