windshield question

Post by robmee »

Will an 87 jett's windshield fit an 85 golf? I found the jetta in a junk yard when we were cutting cars up for training (fire dept) and the guy is practically going to give me parts off the car.

Thanks,
Rob

They are both MK II bodies - I would say that you have a better than 90% chance they are the same. You could slao call a glass shop and have them look it up.

The last couple windshields I've had in my 85 Jetta were for Golfs. I guess the only differences are where the mirror mounts and the moulding on the outside. The guy who does mine uses a universal aftermarket moulding and it looks fine and is much cheaper than the original moulding. It should work but you'll have to glue the mirror mount onto it.

There's something about Wolfsburg (German) Jetta windshields that makes them different.
A piece of metal trim built into the seal.
'91 Golf gasser converted to a 12mm pump, M-TDI.
'84 1.6TD Rabbit with a VNT-15 turbo, still setup to run on vegetable oil.
'84 GTI with 1.7TD pistons and intercooled.
2003 TDI wagon
2000 TDI Jetta.
