We're doing a motor swap on an 82 diesel westy, the 1.6 suffered a piston / valve interaction probably due to valve float at high rpm, so we're replacing it with a 1.9 NA motor, and would like to change the trans so as to lower the engine rpm a bit. My research indicates that the ideal trans to use is the 'DK' type from a early 80's air cooled vanangon, but I have not been able to find one. If you have one or know of one, please let me know. Ideally I would like to find one in the northern CA area, but that's asking a lot.
