New Sunroof Seal

Post by Fisher »

Does anyone know if New Seals are available, if so, where I might find one?

I could have ordered one for my GLI from the local VW dealer last year but it was pricey, around $180 if I'm not mistaken.

Search and be patient; one may pop up!

I found one on ebay for my Quantum for around $60 a few years ago; the correct part # and sealed in a bag and everything. If you need one but don't want to pay stealership prices, program ebay to search for it and email you should it find anything.

I consider sunroofs a bit of a liability, and have seen several rabbits that had permanently sealed theirs shut. You could consider going that route. But suffering leaks that may lead to mold or electrical problems; that's a pain in the ass!

(competitor's name removed by moderator) lists an A1/A2 Sunroof Seal for $110.00

And yes, they are a liability, mine started leaking just before winter. With no time / place to work on it. I opted to pull the carpet and padding, for now I just mop up the puddles

Pulled the carpet?! You should have just taped up the top of the sunroof. Much less labor intensive. ahaha.

Nah,
Had to come out anyway, this summer I am stripping the floor, slathering some POR15 on it, and laying down RAAMmat.
