group 41 is standard but it looks like a 65 might fit
Has anyone done this? i'm thinking about a die hard platinum (agm type) and this is the closest in terms of size.

I generally have measured the max. HxWxL dimensions of what I could fit in my VW diesel and them take a tape measure with when battery shopping and get the biggest (and heaviest) battery I can find to fit. Heavier ones have more lead in them, generally means more capacity and cranking amps.

I'd have to check to see what size this one is,
it's from a Mercedes diesel.
I had to drill out the spot welds,
so I could lift the battery tray and run the wires under it,
instead of around the battery tray.
No room beside this battery to run a bundle of wires.
Seems to only work in the '84s.
Well, others I've tried it in hit the radiator fan shroud.
Edit: It won't fit a MK2.

Have run Group 65 batteries in my Dasher diesels for a long time. In the place of a #41, sometimes a bit of fresh air box bending pressure is required, but they sure deliver the starting punch, and it would be tough for a wannabe thief to steal the battery very quickly! Just make certain there's no metal contact with the terminals when the hood is dropped down.
#65 original use: Ford pickups... yeah my F250s got one also!
