Mmm pretty. They'd be square in about two days with me driving though. :)

Not sure what make the rims are I bought them off craigslist. The tires are 205 40 17 and yes I am a little woried about bending a rim. I just couldn't pass on the good deal for them. I had to change to studs rather than the bolts that would normaly hold the rims on. I also put a large air horn under the hood. I put a small air tank in the back and ran air lines up front to the horn. I use a ball valve to honk the horn. My wife thinks I am nuts but I love the looks from people when I blow the horn. I have the Rabbit put up for the winter.

So 17" fit the mk1? I thought the biggest was 16" No front strut interference? Nice look tho.

I'm not a fan of actually driving lowered cars myself(hi rock, I'm the oil pan), but it'd really look better lower.

Red cars go faster, sell better, but on the down side fade faster. Something about metal pigment. The Ferrari look sure is sweet.

New Tires and Rims.

You can also get longer bolts too rather than use studs. They come in different types of seat too....you know, either ball or taper.

Boy I didn't think about strut interference I only have about a 1/2 from the strut to the tire. If the off set was any diffrent it wouldn't have worked. I think a 17 inch rim with the right off set is the limit for rim size. I am going to lower it about two inches front and back. I know about the longer bolts. I had to use studs because the out side hole on the rim is small. The head on the bolt would not seat down in the hole. Hagar I did use a rim spacer to fit the center hole to the hub. I never have been a big fan of the large rim and tire combo but I think this looks ok.
