hi guys - I have been trying to get my starter out.
It is mounted behind a bracket which impedes it
from coming out either way I work it.

I am not sure what I need to do next. The Bentley manual does not say anything...as usual.
I am guessing that I need to take this bracket off?
It seems to be the bracket for the gear/clutch

I am continuing to work on it but
I can't imagine that a starter could be that difficult to remove.
It should come out one way or the other without
the removal of all of the extra hardware.
Can someone please tell me what I am doing wrong?
Thanks

I did this last week...
- 1) I removed the bolt for the bracket's support on the side of the tranny closer to the axle
2) Removed the starter bolts and electrical connections.
3) From the engine compartment, I used a long bar and hammer to drive the bracket forward about an 3/4".
4) I could then turn the starter to where the flange could get past the bracket.
5) Slipped the starter out through the engine compartment.
Have a nice day.
