What is a dogbone?

I had to replace the flywheel and clutch in my 2003 Golf TDi. A week later I heard a noise. A mount broke or came loose. The expansion tank hose broke causing a coolant leak. The dealer wanted to replace the Dogbone when he fixed the hose leak Is. the "DogBone" one of the engine or transaxel mounts?A friend mentioned it handles torque. Hence movement when I pressed or let up the accelerator whenI discovered the noise probably damaged the expansion tank hose. that VW wants $400 to fix an extra $150 for the dogbone;-{

Yup, rear tranny/engine mount that holds the engine/tranny from torquing on the left and right mounts. Shaped like a dogbone... hence the name.

Vw terminology is Pendulum mount.
