Worth of a 5-speed tranny

It's most likely out of an 80's rabbit or such. I don't have the numbers accross the bottom but I'll try to get them.
Thanks

FS: 1978 VW Rabbit Diesel

I'm selling my 1978 VW Rabbit to buy a larger vehicle for my family. It is 98% all ORIGINAL. The rabbit is silver (the paint was redone about 2 years ago) in color with black interior. I put a 5-speed tranny in to increase mileage. Everything else is original The interior is the original vinyl and i...

Andrew,

When you get back would you mind posting some pics of where exactly you screw your fuel pedestal with the gauge fitting into? I'm assuming it's worth making one of these nice since it will need to stay in the car so we can have a constant pump reading right?

Thanks

Fatmobile and Hagar, I've followed this post from it's begginings. I've read and re-read every page on this post. The pictures I've seen them. If you ask me the picture on page 25 shows the 2 banjo's stacked but the gauge looks like it's just setting there.....as a matter of fact it looks as if it's...

Hagar, Well I've run the wax for a week and a half now.....my little non-rusty, non-bondo bunny is running alot quiter....but I don't see any performance differences. So I'm ready and listening to your next recommendation. You still haven't answered our question about where the pressure reading come...

Hagar.....I believe you, I believe you. I'm looking for answers. If you remember I've already added 450 grams (1 US lb) of wax. The noise level went down but nothing else really changes. I have a 1978 VW Rabbit 1.5L with only 50K on it.....it never smoked. Since adding the wax.....it still doesn't s...

Hagar.....so where are we taking our reading at: inlet, outlet (return) or somewhere else? Also has anyone found a place that has double sided banjo fittings or longer bolts? Hagar....on my particular setup I don't have the cold start pull.....do I need to get one? I have the knob in the cab but the...

Libbybapa (Andrew) have you installed one of the mechanical pumps to keep the pressure going to the IP more consistent? Hagar, If we install one of the gauges testing the pressure going from the return on the IP to the fuel tank and then pulling on the cold start knob to advance/retard timing? That ...

Well hagar now you got everybody trying wax....what do we do next?

Re: Wax job

One thing I have noticed, though. While monkeying with the CS knob while going down the road, I have noticed that it gets much easier to pull out when the engine is spinning faster. Just as I never paid attention to the difference in effort required to pull out the knob stopped vs. running, I never...

So how much wax is everyone adding to an 11 gallon tank? If we can do 1 (one) ounce of wax to gallon of diesel are we adding 11 ounces of wax to 11 gallons of fuel? If so this is going to get expensive on top of the $3.01 I already pay per gallon of diesel.

thanks

So where do we go after wax MR. HAGAR? This putting magnets gauges and stuff sounds to complicated for the common joe.....so whats our next step after adding wax.

Did I do good by getting the lowest melting temp stuff?

Thanks
